The question is deceptive. I've mostly decided that I should sell my 15'. I've been in and out of the country for 2 years, so she hasn't seen much use. Also, I think I'm ready for something larger. I like to entertain, and the 15' just doesn't quite cut it.

Anyway, I'm more curious about the nearest boating options to Chapel Hill, NC. Growing up in Charleston, I've been spoiled by the Lowcountry waterways. What boating locales do ContinuousWavers in the Research Triangle frequent?

I spent 50 years of my life in Raleigh and there are many places to go boating. You can be at Lake Jordan in minutes, Kerr Lake is just over an hour away and there are wonderful places along the coast of North Carolina to explore, fish and enjoy. The boating in NC is spectacular and Chapel Hill is a beautiful place. If you sell out...your missing out.

Lake boating is about 20 minutes away depending which side of Chapel Hill you locate on. Lake Jordan is south of town and has quite a few nice ramps. Also there are several state run campgrounds with pleny of waterfront campsites. Jordan is big for man made lakes. To the north on the other side is Falls of the Nuese Lake. It has fewer ramps and I don't know about campgrounds. Close to the Va. border up Inter. 85 are Keer Lake and Lake Gaston both both very large lakes. If you want salt water about 3 to 3 1/2 hours will get you to the coast. I grew up in Chapel Hill and I agree with those who say that it is the "Southern part of heaven". I've been stuck in Fl. for 30 years trying to get back.

I really didn't read any of the posts so far in detail, but my immediate response to the title of your post is- you should never sell your Whaler!
