We departed Topsail Inlet on Aftergolf's 35' SeaHunter at 5:30AM headed for WR2. After looking at all the water conditions (salinity in particular) we decided to start at WR2. The ride out was pretty smooth (SE wind at 10 - 12 waves 1 -3 ft). Arrived short of WR2 by 2 miles and decided to fish towards WR2. Our buddy boat, a 32' + Hydrosport captained by BarracudaMooda, caught a 20 lb king on the downrigger. WR2 was alive with bait but but rendered no strikes. We fished the area hard for about 45 minutes and then decided to move farther offshore (water was greenish blue).

About 12 miles seaward of WR2 we hit the salinity break water turned that wonderful gulf stream blue. We put our lines in the water and about five minutes later we had our first strike ended up to be a stinky. Continued to move offshore .... about a hour later we had a knock down on the shot gun line (pink/white BluewaterCandy popper connected to a pink and silver BC teaser). Took Ed about 10 minutes to get the Wahoo to the boat. Nice fish. All in all in was a very slow day, we had hoped to put a mess of Mahi in the boat but never found any. We ran a 7 line spread all day. BarracudaMooda caught one king and a 40 lb Wahoo in the vicinity of the Devils Hole.

Here's some GoPro video action of the wahoo strike and boating.

Was funny we never expected to catch Wahoo. Water temp varied from 81.6 at WR2 to 83.6 at the stream. We fished a large rip area but ended up shagging nothing but grass. Great day on the water even though it was slow.

BarracudaMooda (Capt Tripp running his Hydrasport hard).

Both boats were running about 34 mph in 1 - 3 foot seas when I shot this video.

I had the good fortune to be invited on a friend's Outrage 320 and caught my first Wahoo offshore of Guam. We were in the mixing bowl straight off Anderson AFB, with Saipan in the background. A great fight and even better eating!
