I enjoyed the Canadian boat topic so here are a few Pacific Northwest boats. Not necessarily made in the PNW. Economical http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0473.jpg Older http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0480.jpg I have spent a lot of time on Tollycrafts. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0506.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0512.jpg Not much time on Trawlers, but jeepers do I want one. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0487.jpg To each their own. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0507.jpg Spot the Whaler. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0494.jpg My "yacht" but it works. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0558.jpg John |

That looks like Sucia Island. Nice pictures! |

Bingo, Labour Day weekend because it is so close to Canada. It was rocking, lots of people having a blast and it is so darn interesting. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0564-1.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0586.jpg John |

There is an 11 or 13 on the starboard side of that trawler in the background. |

Here is a Hewescraft boat made in Washington State. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0528.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0612.jpg I like: ability to get to the bow and then to shore. The motors are on a bracket allowing full use of the stern deck. A hard "roof" that you can use for dingy storage. A second helm on the outside of the cabin. What I do not like: The cabin is great when the weather is not but when the weather is nice you are stuck in the cabin when running. I guess you can open a window where as if you had canvas you can take some down. I watched this boat expertly land on the beach but then was disappointed when they loaded some drift wood and I think a couple of large fossils on board. The signs on Sucia say you can still burn small pieces of drift wood but taking fossils is not permitted. John |

That Hewescraft looks a lot like the welded aluminum Stanley's (Canadian made) that we see over in the North Channel (Lake Huron). Pretty functional design, if you ask me. I like it. |

Great pictures John, thanks. I see the new 4.2L Yamaha on the back of the Hewescraft, nice. What is the yellow band(?) on the lower unit of the kicker? |

The yellow band is a propeller guard. John |

Did anyone notice the alien shadow on the rocks of the second picture of John's second post. Not sure what you captured there... |

It looks like a fossil of bones to me. Sucia is sandstone, at least in places and is being carved away. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0591.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0587.jpg John |

Fine & interesting photos as always, John, and thanks as usual. You live in an incredibly beautiful location (but won't you get into major trouble from other locals for showing PNW rainless blue skies?). Photo submissions like John's are one of the main reasons I check CW daily. More, please, from all over Whaler-land. Tony |

I enjoy showing off the PNW as a boating paradise. Thanks for the compliments. Boating has always been a passion of mine and I have just recently combined it with photography. A couple more of my favorites from the trip. A relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of home. Not my cup of tea. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0521_zps00580724.jpg This is more like it, the only one in the bay. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0543_zps9af5dcd9.jpg OK you locals, where am I now? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0553_zpsac9dc1c7.jpg Now, this was unexpected. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0603_zps20eac7e3.jpg The sunset from my anchorage in Fox Cove to the North. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0618_zps4b043921.jpg and towards the West. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF0537_zpse96f9fa4.jpg I should be boating today, it's really nice out.
