While cruising the docks recently at Roche Harbor, WA I came across this new 210 Montauk. I admired this aftermarket "T Top", appropriately designed for the climate up there, compllete with windshield wiper.

The paint perfectly matches the gel coat and the design is good enough that a non Whaler owner might think it came from the Whaler factory. The engine is the new 150 HP fourstroke (not Verado). I did not meet the owner.

Looks good, and also practical if you need something like that. It doesn't look like a one-off, so someone is producing it. Is that the original console? Any addition should look like it came from Whaler, and this one does.

Yes, it is the original console. the door is identical to the one on my 200 Dauntless

That is a great looking setup. The idea of a glass windshield is very appealing. I can't help but notice how much the interior of that boat reminds me of a classic Outrage 22.

Compared to the Whaler T-Tops on the big new Outrages to me this aftermarket T-Top looks, well, aftermarket.

It looks good compared to the T-Tops from years past but lacks the beautiful integration of the new Whaler T-Tops.

Butch, I liked this arrangement as a solution to traveling in a cool climate with frequent rain and fog. And I thought its squarish design was not too out of keeping with the near Classic design of the 210 Montauk.

I agree that the factory T-top on my 200 Dauntless is better designed for the more modern design of my Dauntless, but it is far from perfect functionally even here in Northern Calif when the air temp is below 60 and I'm making 22 knots into a 20 knot wind coming off the 57 degree ocean (and it never rains here in the summer).

I have not added canvas/ plastic windows to my setup. I just layer up. :)

Jim,

this is a cleaner version of the "phone booth" pilot houses I've seen on some vintage whalers. There was one parked in the Bolinas lagoon for years that I will try to scare up a picture for you... This example you present is much cleaner... this boat is a serious white glove job... how do people do that. Mine is like a college dorm room in comparison...

Nice top, a smaller version could maybe fit a classic Montauk.

Did you see the Ocean Alexander burnt to the gunnels?

No, we did not see or hear of a boat fire. We were there the week of June 10 this year. Massive eye candy everywhere on the Roche Harbor docks though.

Do you know who the builder of the T-Top is? He deserves some publicity her for a great design.

Rich, Sorry, no idea of the designer or fabricator. I'm 900 miles from there now.

I don't see how it could cost more than what Whaler charges for their factory T-Tops that are designed for warmer weather.

Roche Harbor Marina is a place that is popular with fortunate people who don't have to worry about what things cost. And its a wonderful place for regular folks like us to visit.

I suspect there are lots of such marinas in Florida. But let's not get off on another subject here.
