I did not floor it as I did not want my friend to fly out with my camera. Tach is reading 4400 when showed. The last 10 seconds I mash it to 5900 and a tad over 40mph. Now I never want to hear that a 115 is marginal or underpowered on a 19 again. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1RwKkGCj-bvbzRvNEwzQThzOTQ/edit |

I like the sound of it. Suzuki is an underrated engine. What does it cruise at on the 19 Banana? Martyn |

I would guess that the Suzuki is a 20" leg? Jackplate or transom bolted? |

20' shaft on a 5" setback jackplate jacked up 4.5" from keel. Engine sounds much louder in video but most of that is wind noise. Cruise is roughly 25mph at 4k. At 4400 I was doing closer to 30. It seems that unlike 2 strokes where the last 500rpm make a huge MPH gain, 4 strokes are more linear through the throttle range. Fuel consumption is the same. Many 2 strokes you find that over a certain rpm the fuel just goes out the window where a 4 stroke it gradually climbs. That probably has more to do with EFI compared to a jet or butterflies opening, etc. |

Nice video. How does the boat weight compare to the 18' Outrage and do you think the 140 hp.would have significantly better performance? Peace. |

That 115 does great on your 19! I had a 140 Suzuki 4 stroke on my 73 19 Outrage and the performance was remarkably similar. |

I have talked with many owners with 140 Suzukis and they perform believe it or not about the same. I looked for a 140 fearing the 115 might not satisfy me but after talking with others I am glad I saved the $1000 or so. The 140's however have that cool cowl. |

The weight is supposedly 1650lbs. The weight of 18's is all over the board. Most brochures underestimate the weight by a couple hundred pounds from what I hear and they are closer to my weight. |

Very nice. The engine looks like it's mounted pretty high. I understand the jackplate kicks the engine out five-inches but what do you mean that it is "4.5" from the keel"? Is your propeller at keel level? I'm asking because I'm trying to get [the propeller on my boat] higher to clear a shallow pass. I am on an [unclear, perhaps means OUTRAGE 18] with a Johnson 150 25-inch shaft. Stephen |

My cavitation plate is 4.5-inh above the keel. |

I was involved with installing 32 140's on 16 skimmer barges deployed for the BP oil spill. Not one factory related problem with any motor. The Suzuki in-line four is a good motor. |

I understand the DF115 and DF140 perform similarly. The torque figures in the EPA records show the 140 has only a few pound-feet more than the 115, but the 140 is supposed to have more top end horsepower. Does anyone have any experience comparing these two motors at high rpm? |

Yes: the 140 red-line is 6,200 and the 115 is 6,000. Again, from what I have read here, the 140 does not act like it has 25 more ponies. |

Wow That is impressive, almost snapped my neck off when you throttled her up! |

Gotta be careful, that Suzuki is a beast! |
