Well, I am pleased to announce I am now the proud owner of a 1997 Outrage 20. Thanks for all the advise people here have given me over the past several years as I searched for the right boat. I am sure I will have more questions as time goes on. Only question I have right now is there is a small line that runs from under the helm to the motor well. It is unused like it may have been run as a spare or something. Any ideas on what it might have been intended for? It is black and about the size of a fish tank air line. It is coiled up under the console and just laying loose in the motor well. If there is no use for it, I will just remove.

Thanks
Jason

It was probably left there intentionally to be used to attach anything that might be needed to be pulled thru the wiring/cable race under the deck. This would prevent the necessity of using an electrical fishtape for this in the future.

Congrats on your new Whaler!

If it's not an electrical wire, but a hollow tube, it's probably left over from a pitot tube speedometer. If that's the case, you may want to leave it place to be used later as a fish tape, as suggested by silentpardner.

It might be the pickup tubing from a speedometer that was removed. It normally runs from the pickup on the stern to the console speedometer.

Or it could be the tubing used for water pressure reading from the engine to the gauge on the console.

Good luck and enjoy your boat..........

My outrage 20 had the same tube. definitely for a speedometer. I pulled ine out to make room for data cables to my E-TEC. I did leave some parachute cord in there though for future pulls.
