Moves nicely along for a 27ft boat with a standard single 300hp Verado. 44mph and 2.3mpg at cruise. Looks like a winner. http://www.bostonwhaler.com/boat_graphics/eprowebsitemedia/2904/EnginePerformance/313094_EnginePerf.pdf |

Yeah, pretty nice. Gets the same fuel mileage as my Whaler at the same cruise speed as mine and is almost as fast as my boat which also has 300 HP.Of course my boat is 25 years old and the motors are old fashioned smokey two stroke Mercury 150s... |

Nice looking boat, and plenty of cool comfort and storage features. Still, scaling off the drawing I find just 2.5 feet of deck space behind the leaning post, which is a pretty tight area on a 27 foot boat, especially if fishing is your primary use. There's over 5 feet from the end of the deck on the interior to the actual aft end of the boat. Despite the comfy looking folding seat, that looks like a lot of wasted space. I wonder how close quarter handling would be on a boat this size with the standard single outboard. It's quite a big chunk of change extra to move up to twins. The best option on the list is the desert tan gelcoat, yours for a mere $1493 extra. At an MSRP of $122,000 with no other options but the trailer, you could do a twin engine repower and top-notch restoration on a classic 27 and have a lot of money left over. Still, I bet they will sell a lot of them.My biggest pet peeve is the lack of photos on the web page. Whaler announces a brand new high-end boat, but somehow has not gotten around to taking detailed photographs, and figures a generic "Image will be available soon" message is adequate? That's just plain sloppy, and says a great deal about how the company is run these days. |

The single Verado 300 numbers look scary to me. 4500 RPM only gets you 28 MPH. Takes over 12 seconds to reach 30 MPH and 7 seconds to get on plane. I guess the $108K asking doesn't buy much performance these days. You'd need to spend $130K asking to make that boat run right. |
