I offer a simple side rail that is top mounted to the gunwales of your boat. This rail is 5.5 inches tall X 60 inches in length and is constructed entirely from 316L grade stainless. The cost for this rail with all necessary hardware and shipping is 129.95.

Additionally, I can build any size custom rail from your supplied dimensions. If you want something different, send me the dimensions and I will be glad to quote you a price.

You can reach my directly at lunker@hargray.com and 8437846110.

I assume you mean the small hand rails close to the stern of a Newport. These were also available on outrages as well. Unless you have a stern seat they are pretty much useless. I would look into the ones at marine stores which I bought to replace the ones on mine that got bent, about $30 each and look great.

I would like to add the rails as I have a small child and want the extra protection.

Judge- Do you know the dimensions?

They are about 30" long and about 4" tall, not going to add ANY protection for kids falling over, they are just grab rails. Standard Montauk side rails will not work either as they mount to the hull, not the cap. You want something like Raymond offered above.

Should have seen it when I bought it...what a wreck. Sold it last spring to buy a 1976 19 Revenge that was also a wreck but sweet as pie now.

Have you checked with CMI? They were the OEM for the rails when whaler was stationed up north...I purchased a few things from them and I must say I was very pleased with the quality...pricey, yes...worth it? Yep!

Good luck!

I think I have those same rails on my 1991 Outrage 17. See http://picasaweb.google.com/CascoBayOutrage/1991Outrage17I/ photo#5102091054273466450

Want me to measure? Hamilton's might stock them or something similar. Can research for ya.

Phil,

Nice picture of your Outrage...it looks like the weather was warm and sunny in that picture! :)

Phil, That boat is mint. Would you mind measuring? Do you find the rails useful? I am going with Raymond at Martin Marine Design.

More than happy to measure for you. I will need a couple of days. It snowed yesterday, today and more for tomorrow night/Saturday. Could be 12+" (We are already at 90" to date).

I really like the rails. Give you good hold going to or sitting in stern seat. Also help with tying off to the non-typical piers/floats.

Will measure and shoot detailed photos for you.

Regards

Phil. Good luck with all that snow. Great for the kids. No need to measure. I placed my order today. I am having them made 36"Lx6"H. I know these are longer than OEM. At this point I am only mounting one rail to the starboard side. I use the Port side to haul lobster pots.I want my son to have the rail in front of him when fishing off the back of the boat.

I received my custom grab rails via UPS today from Raymond Martin.
He did a terrific job and delivered as promised. He made 2 rails 36" long and 6" high. He also included all the stainless hardware for through bolting to my Newport gunnel. I originally requested 30" rails , but Raymond suggested 36" and he was right on. Thanks Raymond!
I reccommend his company for quality work.
