I know I probably will not even get a reply on this post but I guess it never hurts to ask. I need a gas tank lid for a 1976 19 foot outrage. It is a project boat that I bought with no lid so repair is not the issue, it is the lack of haveing the part. Any help is appreciated.

Wayne

hello wayne-
we are in the same boat as you w/ our '73 Outrage 19 under restoration.
http://www.hatterasgear.com/73outrage.html
it came with no fuel tank or cover. it doesn't appear to have ever had a tank, oddly enough. we are planning on making a cover out of plywood & epoxy resin - then gelcoating it along w/ the whole boat. we will not put an internal tank in ours. it seems like many of the problems older Outrages have are because of the crappy drain systems and the internal fuel tanks.

maybe it's normal for 35yr old boats to have problems w/ internal fuel tanks, but i never noticed it being a consistant issue until we got into Whaler restoration(s).

please keep us posted w/ photos
&
good luck!

I am finishing my 19 as a low pro. with some pretty radical modifications. I do plan on keeping the belly tank for the simple reason I would hate to keep gas to feed a 150 plus horsepower engine above deck. That seems like a lot of floor wasted to gas tank. see pictures at http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l119/wbaker-lowpro/?

just a note for those who may be looking for a lid. I ended up making one. I have to put down new nonskid on the entire floor so the finish is not a big issue for me.

Richard,
I will use the sprinkle on with awl grip. I am thinking the coarse this time. I used the medium on the fifteen and it was a booger to keep clean.

Do you have pictures of your project. I would love to see them. shoot me a e mail if you have pictures thanks much.
