My brother and I have again exceeded our Whaler quota and we must cull the herd. Is there any interest in a 16' Katama with a trailer? I should have pictures to post this weekend. Hull number 3A2572. In pretty nice condition, original gelcoat in and out. Located in Upstate New York.

Here are the pictures:

According to Whaler, "this boat is a Katama model and was originally shipped out to a Shepard Marine in Canandaigua, NY on 4/21/70." Thanks Mr. Bennett!

If you have any interest send me an email or post a reply.

Thanks, SenecaWhaler

One of these days I will figure out the picture thing. Just cut and paste the address into your browser.

Sorry, SenecaWhaler

Well, I have promptly replied to anyone who has asked. If you are interested I would be happy do the same. Am I wrong to want to do this in a more personal matter?

Feedback welcome.

New pictures posted as boat is cleaned up and ready to go! Other than the seats this boat is in great condition for its age. This is a great boat for someone who appreciates classic Whalers. For more information drop me a line as I am happy to promptly reply.

Since you asked, I will answer. Yes, I think you are wrong not posting the price.
Why would you not want to post the price ? By not doing so, you are just wasting yours and other's time.
Heck, a lot of people will be interested if you are asking $500 but not so many if you are asking $10,000.
By posting the price, you are just weeding out the people who are merely curious or think you may be practically giving it away. Why would you want to talk to somebody that is not really serious at the price you are asking ?
When I don't see a price listed, I assume that it's over-priced and the guy thinks he can do a sales job on me if he can just get me over there to look at it.
Just my opinion which I would not have given except that you asked for feedback.

Thanks for your feedback!

From my perspective, when I have seen prices listed in posts it seems many people felt this was an invitation to add their opinions. Some will say what a great deal it is; some will tell how they bought one for half the price. While some of this might be helpful (if it is true). It seems a lot of it, especially recently, is just some people’s way of taking shots at the poster or others who have replied. I have always limited my responses to things that add to the post, I don’t throw my opinions around. That’s just me.

I have responded promptly to all who have asked for more information, including the price. I also feel with a boat like this there are some who just aren’t the right ones for purchase. This is a classic boat in wonderful condition. When I have talked on the phone to some of the inquiring people we have had nice discussions about not only this but our other Whalers. Call me what you will, but this posting and possible sale is not about the money and won’t be. This will be finding the right person for this Classic.

If this thread goes away for lack of interest that’s fine, I just don’t need certain folks using it to insult and fight with others.

Never thought of that aspect of it. I can certainly see your point.
To my way of thinking, if you aren't seriously interested, don't comment on the price and even if you are interested, do it privately.
Best of luck on your sale.

Pending any last minute deals the Katama is off to Ebay tonight.
