Blew a cylinder head last year on my 02' Johnson 90 HP and would either like to replace with a completely new head or buy a a new motor, same HP and model.

Open for suggestions as well. The 90 HP Yamaha seems like a good deal but would have to change all rigging.

Can anyone tell me the value of the 02' with a blown cylinder?

Spring and boating is just around the corner up here in the Adirondacks.

If you know the engine, just have it rebuilt.

I can name that tune. Did the same thing on my 01 90 HP Johnson. I looked at my options and went for the rebuild.
It cost me around $3K. Ouch! However, there was a big enough price difference in a new motor and rigging to convince me to fix what I had. I figured after all was said and done, it would be almost double(give or take) to replace it.

If money's no object, get a new motor.

Bob, they are also known as Blackbird industries lots of reading available on them all over the net. If I were in your situation I would look for a reasonably priced V-4 to replace the blown engine. If you can find an upstate NY used motor for sale it will most likely be in very good shape. Mount up the replacement motor and rebuild the 02 at your leisure and without pressure. If you remove the powerhead from the midsection and undress it Ted Link in Delaware can rebuild a V-4 for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1800 with a warrantee. As for the value of your 02 it would probably fetch $500-1000 on the wholesale market. Are you from Glen Burnie Maryland?

Brian
