What year? What state? Reason being in NJ there were boat titles until mid-late 80's so you do not need one. If you have the registration and a handwritten bill of sale you can get a title. I just went through it last year. |

I meant there were no titles until like 1986 or so. |

Rather than fraudulently using the title from another boat, why not just file for a lost title on the boat you have? You should be able to get one if you can get a notarized bill of sale and affidavitt in lieu of title from the seller. If you can't get that from the seller, your boat is most likely stolen. |

Not always, if there are no visible numbers that dosen't mean anything. I would rather it not be cut into 20 pieces and thrown in the dumpster because the boat has no title. Can't this hull be saved? Isn't there someone who has a basketcase 15 for sale w/ a title? The thieves are stealing boats that bring more money than a 15 whaler that is over 20 years old. Don't overintensify the value of an old 15. Wake up! |

Why try to commit fraud on your state's government when you can just apply for a new title legitimately? |

When I purchased my Newport about 5 or so years ago, they had some issues with the title I had that was given to me by the seller...I ended up writing to Whaler, giving them the VIN and stencil number and they were more than happy to send out a letter or origin for the boat, which included the date of manufacture, what model it was and to whom it was delivered...the state of NJ didn't have any issues with that... |
