Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to find out what my 1971 menemsha is worth? Not quite sure if I want to sell it, I have someone asking how much I want for it. It would be nice to be able to bluebook it but the good people at Boston Whaler tell me the blue books don't go back that far, and that I should ask here on continuous wave what you all think such a rare old boat is worth these days. In the near future I will post some pics, it has a 1970 120hp chrysler outboard on it and we replaced all the wood that needed replacing. I think it needs to be gel coated and new paint. It has all the original railings and snaps for a full cabin cover, but the canvas is long gone. We did put a bimini cover on it and put a hinged fish fileting area near the motor and replaced the steering cable because the original was no good. Any help I can get here would be appreciated, even if I decide not to sell it, it would be nice to know what kind of a gem I am the proud owner of. Thanks in advance, Happy Boating To all!!

Sheila could probably answer that question. She has (or had) a couple of them.

You do own a gem, there were only about 275 of them made, I think. Worth of an older boat like that is based almost solely on condition, in my opinion, but there might also be some collector value, too. That Chrysler power is not worth very much at all, so the hull is pretty much everything you have there. If she has good thru-hulls, a solid transom, and isn't overweight (from water intrusion), someone will want her. Neat boats, I'd love to have one, but I have too many boats already. If you post a link to some pics, some of our knowlegable folks will offer educated opinions. Does it really need gelcoat or just a buffer?

Pam- I too just bought a Menemsha- in great condition for it's age, all original interior, which I am in the process of rehabbing. I have seen them listed for anywhere from $3000 to $8000 here on CW. I also have searched past threads for the same information, and found it all depends on condition and, to some, how much original equipment and condition the boat is in. This is a recent thread about two Menemshas for sale:

Here is a link to my Menemsha, in various stages of the rehab:

Would love to see pics of yours, that would help folks give a reasonable idea of value-k

If you think it needs paint and gelcoat and no mention of a trailer I would say maybe $2000-3000.
