1992 Boston Whaler 23 Walkaround

Twin 1992 Yamaha 200 HP outboards, counter-rotating props

Boat was heavily loaded at the factory, including:
• Factory hardtop and aluminum arch
• Factory engine bracket and transom station, including sink and livewell (not connected right now), and transom door
• Factory compact marine head and holding tank (since removed)
• Optional larger fuel tank (180 gallons US)
• Lofrans Scorpion windlass, with all-chain rode, swivel, and 16 lb Bruce anchor
• Factory pressurized freshwater system, with 2 sinks, and hose.
• Factory saltwater washdown system

Added since new:
• Lee Jr outrigger mounts
• Taco collapsible outriggers, rigged for two lines each. I have the Aftco roller clips, not installed yet.
• Full wraparound canvas (new fall 2005), utilizing Strataglass for front windscreen. Perfect condition. Back dropdown canvas never installed.
• Fastback canvas, used when at the dock.
• Overhauled lower units (2006)
• Tuned 3 blade Yamaha SS props (spring 2008)

• Ratheon R10X radar
• Ratheon 850 color sounder
• Raymarine GPS
• Autohelm autopilot, slaved to GPS
• Standard VHF, with new Digital antenna
• Pioneer stereo, with 6 disc CD changer, and wired remote selector

• Full Yamaha digital gauge package, including fuel management system
• ACR searchlight (installed 2007)
• New Yamaha 10 micron fuel filters (2)
• Full set of dock lines
• Full set of transient lines
• Factory Coleman thermoelectric cooler (although not working recently)
• A bunch of stuff, spares, and upgrades that I have accumulated to install, that I haven’t gotten around to putting in.
• A slew of literature on the boat, including Owner’s Manuals for the boat and accessories, factory brochures, and magazine tests. Great reading.
• A 2005 Nextrail aluminum I-beam tandem axle trailer

I’m selling this boat because I’m at a juncture. I am either going to jump into a Dyer 29, which I’ve always had a longing for, or a smaller Whaler, that I can get back into trailering again. The boat is offshore capable, and with the new canvas, offers great all-weather protection. I had planned on immersing myself into tuna fishing, but with the birth of my daughter a few years ago, the urge to fish has lessened. Besides, my wife is not into being on big water, so the boat largely sits ready to go at the dock. I would like to either scratch a pleasure cruising/picnic boat itch, or get back into trailering to the various lakes and bays I used to frequent.

Probably one of the prettiest Whalers in recent memory, in my opinion. The boat was only in production for three years or so, and exhibits the classic Whaler fit and finish, along with a then-new hull design. They were very expensive for their time, which probably led to their demise. The design offers features not found on even today’s models, and the engine bracket allowed the option of a full transom station that included a freshwater sink and cutting board, and a small livewell, as well as a handy transom door to the engine bracket.

The boat is actually a nice family boat, with the cuddy below. A previous owner had removed the factory Raritan head and holding tank, but it would not be hard to reinstall the system. My daughter loved the V-berth, and my nephew and I spent some very pleasant nights aboard…

I am a motivated seller. Although the boat is currently winterized, I will commission it for those seriously interested ( I was planning on keeping it out of the water this year anyway for a major electronics upgrade). Or, I will make a price reduction if one were to take it as, and save me the effort. I could probably escrow some money should a problem arise during your commissioning…

Located at my home in Stonington, CT, near Mystic Seaport.

$26,000, although reasonable offers or trades would be considered.

Do you have any pictures? How many hours on the engines?

beer-queen, check your e-mail for pix.

I'm not sure of engine hours, but I know I haven't added to them too much. Usually I do one big day on the water a year, where the bulk of the hours are accumulated. Last year, I put on about 15 hours...

Hay Pat,

Sorry to see you let her go.

There are not enough 23 Walkarounds on this site.

Thanks for the kind words John. I really enjoyed this boat, and I enjoyed communicating with you.

The boat was the culmination of a wish to own one since they were introduced, and it was worth the wait.

But my needs (wants) have changed, and life throws things at you sometimes...

I'm reducing the asking price to 24,000, as I'm getting her cleaned up, and some loose ends tied.

Although this summer weather has me thinking...
