Looking for a short shaft, remote control, electric start outboard in the 25 to 40 (maybe even 50) hp range. Don't want a fixer-upper. I'll pay a fair price for a motor in good operating condition. Age: anywhere from 1970 on up...

Ignore this post. Found a 20 inch adapter for the short transom, and got a nice 40 to fit.. Thanks

BTW, we splashed the boat with the adapter and 40 Merc long shaft on Friday. Cav plate lines up perfectly just above the hull line. Boat goes like a scalded chicken!
Also, I emailed CMC (jackplates etc.) about using the TH Marine Hi-Jacker 2-piece transom extender. They said they have never had a complaint about excessive stress on a transom. This model does give you a 4-in. setback. I probably might have gone with this if I hadn't ordered the other one already.
