I'm looking at a friend's early (first year) Dauntless 15 with a 5 year old Honda 50 4 stroke motor. The boat has been garaged and is in immaculate condition. He moved up to a bigger boat, is selling the Dauntless, and told me to make him an offer. I want to make a fair offer as he is a friend, and don't want to low ball and haggle. What do you think is a fair price for Hawaii/West Coast on this boat

When you say "first year" Dauntless 15, I assume that would be a 1993 (the first year the Dauntless was listed in the catalog by BW was 1994, but they did make a 1993 model).
For me, the 50 H.P. is a little under powered but you should sea trial the boat and make your own decision. Assuming you do not find the 50 H.P. motor under powered, and assuming the boat is immaculate, a fair price on the east coast would be about $6,500 to $7,500 (assuming no expensive "extras" are being sold with the boat). The prices in Hawaii are higher, but I don't know by how much. Perhaps another member could provide input.
Again, my price assumes immaculate condition and that everything works. You don't need a 39 page checklist to inspect the boat, but you do need to make sure there are no major issues.
