I looking for a classic 13' Whaler. Would prefer one with the side console, etc. as my wife does not like the 14' Carolina Skiff, with a tiller motor, I purchased as "her boat" last year. I am in Virginia and ready to buy... she's upset I didn't have a Whaler at the end of pier at the beginning of the season! Someone...please throw me a line!

Good luck. You won't be needing an anchor as I see you're already married.

too bad that boat is in GA and not VA, it is exactly what I'm looking for.

Sometimes you have to travel to get the right boat. How far are you from Georgia, about 7 hours ? That's not far in Whaler time. It will add a couple hundred $ to the price
but maybe you can get the seller to split that with you.

I hear you on the travel thing. Have an infant that's making this a little more complicated than usual. Since it is for the wife, perhaps she'll grant me a hall pass...of course, I'd request an overnighter.

I actually think this is the same guy that I referred to a 13' for sale in April:

If so, it's not the 13 linked to in the article, but one that was on Craigslist at the time on Lake Burton (1 hour North of here).

superdave_gv,

Not sure I followed your last post...are you saying that the boat listed above might be the guy that sold the one in the link you attached?

I left a message with the person in GA and waiting to hear back.

Sorry for any confusion. The CW link I posted was a previous thread. In April 2008, I referred a user here CapnJustin to a couple of 13' Whalers on Craigslist.org at that time in our area. Those links have since expired.

After I posted the link, it hit me that it might be the same boat and user. Nothing groundbreaking, good or bad, just an FYI that if it's the same boat is it being re-sold within a few months. Good luck with the boat.

I'm also going to recommend craigslist. There's a really cool tutorial explaining how to streamline your searches for whalers that can be used for really anything. Check this out:

One last thing, I wouldn't limit my search for just the 13' Whaler, you might be missing out on a really nice 15'er right under your nose. There's a 15' Boston Whaler listed in The Fisherman this week in Allentown, PA that states; "very good condition, O/B motor, trailer," for $3600. The phone number is: 610-392-6581.

Good luck in your search.

Dave
