Got my Whaler just right with a perfect repower, but 5 days later a good friend surprised me with a too-good-to-pass up offer on his Corsair trimaran. So I'm off to go sailing, and want the Whaler to find a happy new home. Boat is in Santa Rosa, CA (near San Francisco)
Here's the craigslist posting:
1985 classic model Whaler in good condition. Very roomy center console model. Brand new 60 horse Yamaha 4 stroke is the perfect repower. The boat planes instantly, tracks well and will pull a water skier or get to the fish fast.
Cushioned bench seat for 2, plus a nice big padded front deck. Rated for 5 passengers, but good for 2 adults & 2 kids. Comes with depth/fish finder, compass, running lights, anchor, bumpers, dock lines and small bilge pump. Recent upgrades: new windshield and lifted the console for comfort. New 18 gal alum gas tank, steering box, stern light, battery. The hull is in good condition. Topside gelcoat has cosmetic spidering with age, and the hard plastic rubrail holder has some cracking, but overall there are no structural problems / no signs of any repairs.
Motor is almost finished with a careful 10 hour break-in period. 3yr transfereable warranty started in June. It was professionally installed, with new wiring harness, stainless steel fuel filter, and nice electronic tach / multi-function guage.
Trailer is a galvanized Shorelander, very sturdy for this boat. A little rust on the fenders, but in great mechanical shape. Total package tows easily behind our 4 cyl VW. Basically anything can tow it comfortably. Launching is a simple 1 person job.
Can do a demo ride with your deposit at Petaluma River, or a Marin Co. launch ramp. More pictures are available upon request.
Boston Whaler made this 15' "mini Montauk" model in the 80's, and it is a great handling classic. Read more about this rare model at continuouswave.com

Price is $11,500. Before gasping, remember that's a BRAND new $7,000 motor on the back :)
Thanks for passing the word along - this one needs to stay in the Whaler family!
