Wanted: Console grab rails for 15 CC

The title of this Marketplace ad says it all. I need a set of grab rails for my newly-acquired 1987 center console 15. The console has been raised so I need the kind which attach to the console itself only, rather than the type of rails on my old Katama where the 'shepherd's crook' extends down to the deck forward of the console. I'm in northern California and willing to pick up within a one hundred mile radius of my home, or would gladly pay for shipping from anywhere if feasible. OEM would be super, but anything strong and nice which fits would be considered. Thx,

Other than a couple of helpful suggestions via email, no responses at all to this. Anyone local with some console grab rails that might fit? Thx, Tony

Been looking for the same thing. Can't find where they were ever available from Whaler. Best bet will be contact your local T-Top builder and work with him to design what you want.

15 cc's did not have grab or windshield railings from the factory. Either buy one or 2 small ones from Theft marine and mount as grab rails or have a custom windshield railing made or modify one from a 17 Montauk. SS tubing is easy to cut and modify to fit the smaller console although I believe the windshield is the same as a montauks so size should be close, just don't use the crook.

I just bought two grab rails off Ebay like these for my 15CC...

No pics, I'm currently painting, but I did go ahead and drill the console to mock them up. They look sharp and should keep me out of the water when walking around the console in chop.
I'll put up a ton of pics when I'm done with the project.

I put a U shaped rail over the top edge and sides of the windshield on my 1987 15ft. Center Console just back from the front edge behind the cooler seat in front of the console. It worked out great and I don't know why Boston Whaler didn't provide as stock? I got it at a marine discount store down in Melborne Florida on US1. I cannot remember their name right now but have a card from them some where. They had several and were about $50 each. It has 4 single 1/4 inch hidden bolt attachment points and with a little bending to make it narrower at the opening of the "U" I was able to mount with some round starboard wedges that solved the slight angle problem of the round mounts fitting flush with the sides of the console. I have a picture or two somewhere I'll hunt down and post a link to so you can see what Im talking about.

so they don't make a part to sell for this boat and it has to be made or modified from another boat

My father has a 15 Center Console. The boat rides great however, it tends to be a bit sloppy while drifting in the ocean. There was always the gut instict to grab either the windshield or a side rail mounted fishing rod for support. I ended up picking up a BW console rail from Ebay for him. If my memory is correct it was from a later model 18 Outrage. Width turned on to work out great. The height wasn't an issue as it could be lowered or leaned forward to backward to fit.
Otherwise perhaps the original BW OEM railing source could make one for you. I had also heard that the 15's center console is a shorter version of the Montauks. I second the opinion to omit the crook.

Hey, thanks for all the good advice, guys. This place is great. I've got a line on a set of classic Montauk console rails which probably can be made to fit...I'll know tomorrow. Thanks again.

Again, thanks for the good advice. I did pick up a set of pre-smirk 16 console rails which I'll be able to make work on my 15 CC. Fifty bucks in pretty grubby condition, but they brightened right up and look like new right now after an hour's work with WD-40 and steel wool.
