Found this-- Looking for something to move up to from my 17 Montauk.

Trailer looks too small, and boat is missing some cushions, etc. Price look OK? Tough to value things in this market. Boat has been sitting for a while--supposedly very little use in past few years (that concerns me).

Thanks--I just started looking, and don't have anything to compare it to.

You will need ALOT more information, details and pictures to support that asking price. Agreed, the trailer looks too small but hard to tell to what extent. Call the guy, find out what he has done to the motor as far as repairs, how he maintained it (look at his auto and this will give a good indication). See if he'll give you the number of his mechanic and give him a call. These are nice boats and that may very well be a decent price but with the amount of information in the ad, it could be way over-priced also.

I called the lister (one of the "listing for a friend" things--but I can call the owner if I want). No service records--service done by owner who owns an auto repair place. From what I was told, the boat is relatively clean, but has been sitting alot. No canvas/cover for the boat--so while its supposed to be clean its fair to wonder. No title for the trailer either. Seller said price was pretty firm also. I'm supposed to get more pics. tonight. LI is a few hours from me, and I just drove a few hours roundtrip to look at a boat this weekend, and came away a little disappointed (boat was represented as perfect, but the owner had repaired gel-coat scratches/whatever by troweling on marine tex--he forgot to tell me that part, and pics. can be deceiving).

I think the price is too high, seller/friend is not being straight with you. This is a buyers market.

Keep looking.

John, I live in Huntington and can look at the boat if you want me to. I noticed over the past few months that he was asking $1,000 more recently. It the motor is good, it might be worth it.

Seems like the majority of beat on Whalers listed on craiglist are all on Long Island for some reason.

Thanks for the advice. Based on the pics I've received, at this point, she's not for me.
