If I purchase a replacement for my 1988 90 hp Johnson Vro with a bad powerhead, what would the fair market trade in value. A local dealer said he would credit me $200.00 towards a 1995 no controls at $2800.00. $2600.00 net. That seemed low considering the lower unit and all the other parts are OK.
If I decided to sell the boat what would the going price be. It is a 1988 montauk in original perfect condition. It has the large red whaler decal on the side. All teak is perfect. Except for a few minor nicks it looks new.

$200 is not an insult but that also depends on what you are able to do with it. In that $200 that also includes removal so you might have to pay somebody $100 to remove it, then store it until you part it out or sell it. I doubt you would get more than $500 if really clean as a whole. $2600 installed out the door for for the deal is good, engine only...no dice. There is a 2006 Suzuki 70hp 4 stroke I listed here for $2775.

You don't need controls if swapping out for another OMC. You will need a wiring harness adapter and a small systems check gauge if engine is a systems check but I think that started in 96.

What condition is the lower unit in?
And, what would you sell the lower unit for?
Anyone else have an idea what shipping would cost for something like that from there to here? <smile>
