Brian,

I figured I'b buy two of them and use them as bow thrusters, then maybe I'd be able to dock her with out getting laughed at by my wife.

Ridge,

I wouldnt sweat the docking. That's what they make rub rails for. The rub rails on the 295 are very beefy. As long as you're going slow, it's all good.

It took me a while to get used to docking a 30 footer with twins after driving a 22 CC with a single for 7 years, but I got the hang of it.

Oh if it was only just the rub rail. Backing into my 11' width slip (10'4" beam) with a nice 10knt tidal current and 15knt breeze and all those big, sharp anchors on the bow pulpits of the boats next to me.... I always tell my crew I can get the fiberglass fixed; arms, hands, fingers, legs take a lot longer to heal.

I had one of those slips in NJ. You could barely get a pack of smokes between the rubrail and the piling. Decades later I can slip in where nobody else would even think possible...sometimes it is impossible and hence why God invented rubrails.

I love doing that at beaches. The look on the guys face when you slide in between him and the other boat is priceless. They act like I am doing something illegal when there is at least a foot on either side or more. Maybe because they know what their skill level is at parking ;)

I hear you. Backing in with the parameters that you described is a bitch. My slip is a little wider (not much) but I pull in bow first and put the boat up on the lift. That's a lot easier that what you're doing.

I tell my passengers the same thing. Keep your arms and legs in the boat, it's just not worth anyone getting hurt over.
