I posted this yesterday under a subject title that was perhaps unclear, so I will do it again.

Sold my '77 Montauk last year but am now considering an '85 Montauk, though I won't see it until next week. The description is as follows: "Hull in good shape. Motor runs but needs new lower unit. Original owner. Classic hull and great boat for someone that wants to replace lower unit or re-power." Turns out that not only is the lower unit shot but the trailer is rusty and almost worthless. For me, however, this could be ideal. I am happy to re-power (possibly with the new 2009 Suzuki DF70/80/90 series) if the price for the boat is right, and a new trailer would also make me feel secure. So, the real issue is the value of the boat once I verify that it is in reasonably good shape. The asking price is $4200. Any opinions or links to Whaler hull values would be appreciated. Thanks.

if everything else is i such poor shape what makes you think the boat will be any better off,,go look at it but only take $1200 in cash and let your eyes be your judge
