It is house cleaning time again.

I have an OE console floor from a 1988 Montauk that still has its original dark brown vinyl covering on it. The plywood base is sound.

It will fit any Outrage standard console as well.

The floor has had oil spilled on it in the past and the edges are slightly curled but it is perfectly serviceable.

How does that install OEM?

I do not understand the question.

how does the floor fasten to the center console? Did Whaler use special bracket? This is the floor or shelf that sits inside the center console correct? My 1988 center console never had one and I fabricated one.

The console floor is screwed to the console via four lengths of plastic angle that screw to the inside of the console where there is plywood laminated onto it as backing.

For some strange reason, Whaler used very short 10" lengths of this plastic angle which is not nearly as strong as it could have been had the lengths been as wide as possible.

Plastic angle is desirable because the angle between the battered (tapered) sides of the console and the flat plywood floor is not 90 degrees. The plastic flexes a bit and fits well whereas aluminum angle will not flex and can distort the fiberglass sides of the console if the screws are tightened too much.

Are those Outrage saddle tanks in the background of that picture?
You don't see those every day.

No, they are a pair of 14 gallon Tempo tanks from my old Thompson. They are in perfect condition but need to go up to Orcas Island.
