NEW, delivered direct to your BRP dealer Evinrude 250 H.O. or 250. Full factory warranty. Must be installed by your dealer. For price and more information, email me. This engine was acquired as part of a TV sponsorship deal with BRP and is available for less than you will find it at any dealer. References available from past sales. This is your chance to get a new 250 E-Tec for an amazing deal. Seriously.

Am I missing the price?

I don't see any reason for a price increase

I will attest that the deal is real. My motor is sitting at my dealer waiting for me to fill in the holes in the transom and will be installed next week.

I will let Forrest or Captain van Horn tell you all about the price (since supposedly this ad is not supposed to run on the net).

BRP policy prevents me from putting a price online. If you want more info, just Email me with a request.

No pressure - but these engines will go quick. By the end of april I will start looking for buyers other places as well. BRP wants us to liquidate them by the end of May. I'll answer any questions you have online - just can't talk price. We have sold three motors on CW - and everybody has been vwry happy with the engines as well as the deal.

If you live in a high tax state and have a friendly dealer this is a very viable good deal.

Just my personal experience.

Feel free to email me for further endorsements.

No offense to Forrest, who seems to be a very nice guy and who responded immediately to my query, but 1) the deal wasn't all that great, especially when you figure in (perhaps very annoyed) dealership rigging; and 2) I thought this Marketplace forum specifically excluded commercial ads.

I emailed Forrest, but have not heard back from him yet.

No offense to Tony, but:

The deal is a motor shipped to a dealer who needs to rig the motor. You need to have a relationship with the dealer who is willing to work with you. The dealer needs to earn his money; when I did this deal I told the dealer that I was willing to let him charge me full retail for a complete refit (new controls, oil tank, binnacle (I moved from twins to a single), and various other extras (bottom painting, complete new steering, de-rigging my old motors, some other minor things). I did this because the price I paid was about $3K under the showroom price of a new motor. No sales tax (NY is $0.08625%). I did not get an extended warranty or a deal on I-Command gauges. In the end I saved money, but I only trust that I will receive the same level of service from my dealer should the motor crap out (as I received when I purchased a lemon 90 E-Tec and he fully went to bat for me a couple of years ago).

The deal with purchasing a motor from these guys is that Evinrude sponsors pro teams by giving them a couple of motors to sell and make their sponsorship money rather than giving them the money outright; I'm not an accountant but I guess it works.

My dealer was not entirely pleased when I approached him about helping me out. I had been pestering him for nearly a year trying to get a decent price on a similar motor, when I told him about what I wanted him to help me with he outright told me he had already expressed his displeasure about these deals to BRP marketing but he would still help me out. I saved over $1000 in tax, and maybe $3K over showroom price, but did not receive the marketing incentives (gauges, extended warranty), and the dealer made a fair profit for the installation (and kept his workers moving). I likely saved a only couple of $K, which I now feel I should dump into a savings account to cover possible issues which an extended warranty might (if I had one) cover should they arise.

Is this the right deal for everyone? Maybe not now with the amazing number of great deals on used packages seen advertised on various sites, but I wanted a new motor for this particular boat so I did the deal. $18K (my cost for motor, installation, and extras) can buy a lot of boat these days, but a new motor is a new motor, and if that is what you want then that's what it will cost. Good luck to anyone else if the math works. And feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about this deal.

For the mathematically inclined, I goofed on the way I expressed the sales tax in my previous post (should be 8.625 percent).

Personally, go for the 250HO if you go for this deal and are rigging it on a classic Whaler (I wish I had!); a little more power never hurts!

If the deal's not good enough for you, make an offer. I know the market's tight.

Further, two engines we sold last year were not installed by the dealer. The buyers payed the dealer $200 cash to load them on their truck and they took them home (Toronto).

BRP just gave us the go-ahead to sell other size E-tecs as well. If you need an engine, any size, send me the details and I'll price it for you. As always, delivery to your dealer included. Direct delivery to your home available at cost on smaller engines.
