Hi Guys: I am the new and proud owner of this very special boat that has been discussed on several threads of CW. I really appreciate everyone's comments, information and advice about this boat. These discussions helped me make up my decision but this was a long process that took over one year!. Actually, the boat's owner was Layne Brown, father to Blake. We both live on peach orchards in western Colorado.
My first and previously only experience with Boston Whalers was for 2 summers that I worked for Alaska Dept. Fish and Game out of Dillingham in 1966 & 67. I was counting salmon for ADFG and they provided us with a whaler. I recall it was about 12-14 ft long and had an 18 HP outboard. We would have to travel across a large large and river (Lake Aleknagik) and do this 24/7. The boat did wonderful and I have always thought that if I ever bought a powerboat this would be the kind I would get.
Fast forward about 40 years and I bought a peach orchard and land about 1/4 mile from Layne. While walking by his house one day, I saw his whaler meticulously tucked away and covered under a metal shed. Later I told Layne about my experience with Whalers and told him that if he every wanted to sell it let me know. Some of you know the story about this boat - Jeff called the the infamous "waterrat" thread, well I am the good neighbor who bought the boat this morning for $15,000.
I hope that I can get some much needed advise of the care and treatment of Whalers since I really know very little about power boating.
In case anyone is interested, I have posted some pictures of my girl at Highline Lake (test drive) and our house.
Thanks again for everyone's help. I will be checking back for more help.

Congrats on your new boat. It really is one of the nicest looking and most OEM 18 Outrages I have seen come up for sale here. The boat will treat you well for years to come.

Nice boat! Maybe it's time for a rendezvous at Lake Powell. Looks like a good year for snowmelt and stripers. Dave
