I want to increase the insurance coverage on this boat which is currently at $2000. I went to my local marina ( Robbins Marine in Milton Pa.) for an appraisal. They really didn't have much to go on given the age of the outfit other than to comment in writing that given the exceptional condition of the boat /trailer and motor they would sell the outfit for at least $5000 and probably more.

The unit has always been garaged, only ever been in salt water three-four times ( and always completely cleaned / flushed) and is absolutely mint. Does anyone have any idea about the actual worth of the boat /motor / trailer or can direct me to a specialty insurer? I recanvassed the boat last year and may upgrade the motor to a 90hpo Evinrude or Honda..but that is another issue.

Many thanks.

You want an insurer to insure your boat for AGREED VALUE not ACTUAL CASH VALUE. Progressive did my 1998 Montauk for $12,000.
Bring the documents to agent and tell him AGREED value

I insured my 1966 Sakonnet for $5000 (agreed value) with Progressive and have been pleased with the low premium.

My premium just got reduced after three years with no claims.

I did the whole thing on line though I believe there are local Progressive agents.
