I have been spending more time on alocal lake with family now that my 92 rude is running regularly on my whaler.
I could really benefit from a swim ladder. Can anyone suggest anything to work on the stern or back area of a 1970 Katama?

There's someone who posts here every so often that sells / installs transom mounted ladders on Montauks. I believe they also sell them on eBay. Maybe search a little here or someone will post a link. The cost is around a few hundred if I recall correctly. It's a permanent mount item.
Non-permanent options-- A portable ladder used off the side has been discussed recently in the GAM area in a couple posts. Look for Montauk Ladder or Newport Ladder. With the Katama console being attached to starboard side, the portable ladder would still work fine port side. You can get them for $50-$100 and adjust the ladder stand-offs to hit your hull for a good fit.

Thanks for the information. I noticed as well bass pro has a ladder I can remove that may work off port.
