I have been reading "Boating" magazine for years and Doug Russell always has a 2 page ad in there. There has been a 275hp Merc for sale for years for like $7350 and now there is a 150 Evinrude for $5500. Has anyone looked at these engines? They are supposed to be new I beleieve, is this true? A new 150 for $5500 seems extremely cheap, especially in Taxachusetts.

Nobody is interested in a $5500 150hp?

Interested? Yes, but their website shows the 150 as used.

Thanks Newt. In the magazine it does not state it. I was thinking an older in-box Ficht would be sweet for $5500.

Doug Russell has been around Mass for a number of years. He's closer to Worcester in middle of state and caters more the the NH freshwater crowd.
On the bonus side, there is a better chance with his used engines that they have been freshwater only used compared to Russo or Nauset resales.

Believe he used to sell Arima walkarounds, no Whalers.

Bigs, let me know if you do find any 150's new. I'd repower with old technology if the price was right.
