tump line	posted 10-09-2009 08:20 AM ET (US)             the reason I ask is a lift hook has been added and appears to have been bolted through the keel of the boat, standard practice or something to be concerned about ?

It uses a threaded rod and a coupling that attaches to the interior of the eye bolt that is put through the stem to make it strong enough to lift the bow. It's the best way to make sure of its strength. The boat should not be left hanging in davits but set in a cradle, which mine is:-)
