How to do you know it is a 1958? What is the stencil # on the hull. Only ask as it was the first year of Whaler's production. Though neat, is really does not add value. So much depends on condition, condition, condition. Here is a some things that would help us gather info on it's condition:
Does the boat still have the OEM seating and helm/console?
What condition is the wood in?
Where has the boat been used during it's life (fresh or salt water)?
Where and how is it stored?
What is the condition of the exterior? Shinny, dull, scratched and full of repairs? Any bottom paint?
What is the condition of the interior? Are there and spider cracks or UV crazing? Any areas of repairs or unsealed holes?
What condition is the transom cap in? Are there any cracks forming along the top?
Are there any cracks around or in the splashwell area?
What year is the motor? 2 or 4 stroke? Estimated Hours? What overall condition is the motor in? Does it run? Has it been compression tested? If so what where the numbers? How often has the lower unit lube been changed?
Do the running lights work? Does the boat still have the OEM lights?
Is there canvas that comes with the boat?
Is there a trailer? If so what year is it? Aluminum, galvanized, or painted? Bunk or roller?
If you have any photos of the boat that would help as well.
The boat could be worth between $750 - $4000 depending on it's condition. If it is in good condition with out any major structural or fiberglass concerns, the wood is in decent shape, the motor is at least from say the early - mid 80's and it runs and starts well, all the mechanicals are in working order and there is a decent road worthy trailer I would put the price around $1500 - $2500 maybe.
Cheers,
Jeff
