I am looking to buy a moonstone (desert tan) rigid receiver for the rub rail on an early 70's 19 Boston Whaler. Boston Whaler only offers it in black today and I would really like the moonstone. I have been calling some dealers including twin cities looking for some to no avail. Hoping someone here may have some. I already have the new red insert (got in on Larry's order). I would need about 50' of it. My boat has just been re-gelcoated and I am ready for this part.

Any help would be appreciated.

About eight years ago I bought a 40.ft.roll of moonstone for my Newport from Marine Max in Tampa. They are a Whaler dealer as well other brands. They ordered it and had in the same week.

According to Sue at Twin Cities Boston Whaler discontinued the moonstone in April of 2008. My only hope is to find new old stock at a dealer or an individual or try do get Barbour to do a run for a group buy or something.

Scott -

You might want to get on the phone and call around to the different Whaler dealers. Maybe one of them has some left in stock.

Can you email me a part number and I will check my local dealer. They sometimes have unsold parts gathering dust in the attic. Found a new classic Montauk stern seat last year that had been up there for 8 years.

Regards,

Phil

I did call about 4 this week that were recommended to me by Sue. I will get the number to you when I go in my office tomorrow - I left it on my desk. Thanks Phil!

Hamilton Marine has some Barbour Moonstone receiver in stock. I am not sure if it is the correct extrusion.

Phil, Reid has been looking into it for me. I sent him a fax with the info yesterday. He is trying to confrim with Whaler on what they really have. I am not very optimistic as I spoke with Barbour yesterday. They say they have not run this style receiver in Moonstone for quite some time. I may have to try and get a group purchase together. I will hold off on that decision until Reid gets confrimation.

Thanks for the assistance - Just keeping the thread up to date for anyone watching.

Rich - I have the take off rubrail from mine - its brittle and doesn't look very nice. Not sure what your application is but you are welcome to it.

You got it Richard. I haven't heard any news back from dealer so I will get together details of group buy. I need to talk to Larry and figure out how he figured shipping cost etc. I need to order 500 feet to get it done. I will be taking 100 feet (to cover all the red I ordered) - I will put a post together this week.(both here and the other site)

Hi Scott,

I will take a length for my 18' and 22' just to have around.

Let me know the specifics and thanks for taking the time to put this together.

I just got some information that this rubrail for the 1970's 19's and 21's (not ribsides) does not fit the 2nd generation Outrage boats. So I would think Scott's order would only apply to the old classics of the '70's.

I will put together a separate post and will include a picture image of the profile of the receiver. The paper shows it as early Outrage/Revenge. I have no clue if it fits other models or not but it will also show two other popular styles. I would suggest comparing it to your boat to be sure.
