Looking for a closeout deal on a Suzuki 70 HP Four Stroke. If anyone has seen or heard of anything please drop me an email. Thanks!

I just got a very good deal on a new Suzuki 6 hp four stroke kicker for my Montauk (just about 30% less than I would have paid at a local dealership, including shipping) from the Tennessee-based NewSuzukiOutboards.com. Motor arrived in perfect condition just when promised, even during the busy Chrismas shipping season.

Unfortunately, I just checked the website for you, and it says that they're sold out of the larger 2009 models, including the DF70 (which is what came with my recently-acquired 1982 Montauk, and which I've already grown to like very much indeed).

I shopped around a little locally and online before I bought the little 6-horse, and NewSuzukiOutboards had the best deal for that particular motor. There are several other online Suzuki discounters, but I can't vouch for any of them personally.

Good luck with your purchase, and I hope you like your DF70 as much as I.

Thanks for the tip Tony. That is a great price on the the 6hp. Very tempting as a kicker next to the black Mercury on my 170. Just enough to get you back home. Any problems with damage on shipping?

The motor arrived without a scratch, Milo, prop attached and only the carrying handle to be bolted on by me, carefully packed with all paperwork, manuals, etc, and mucho padding inside the large box. All I had to do was add engine oil and begin the 10-hour break-in process, which I completed on a nearby fresh water lake. The new motor fired up for the first time on the third pull, BTW, and has since performed flawlessly, which of course pleased me greatly.

I've never before bought a motor online, and I prefer for the most part to support local dealers. Unfortunately, the nearest Suzuki dealer is an hour away from my home; luckily the Yamaha/Honda dealer/mechanic I've used for service for seven years can do the yearly maintenance on my Suzukis (I change fluids and do the simple-minded maintenance tasks myself).

It amazed me to see the price markdowns at NewSuzukiOutboards--a full third better than the best quote I could get from any northern California dealer, plus shipping which was $160 for the 57-pound kicker from Tennessee to California. I'm not sure I would have gone this way if I had been in the market for a larger motor requiring new controls, cables, rigging, etc, but it worked perfectly for me in regard to the little bolt-on kicker.

Local dealer by me was closing out Johnson/Suzukis a year or so ago. A member here had one shipped out west and is very happy with it. He found it on E_Bay and then asked me about their reputation, etc. There are a bunch of great deals online. I posted a While back New F75's for like $5k or so. Shipping is not a problem in my eyes, you save on the tax if not more. There is a Suzuki dealer in the Largo area that was blowing out 2008 60's a month ago. Look up Boatandmotorsuperstore or something of the sort.

That's right, Nick...no sales tax, which in my northern California county amount to 9.25%. That alone saved me about a hundred bucks on this purchase, two-thirds of the shipping cost.

Thanks for the help folks! I found a new Suzuki 80 HP and will firm the deal up on Monday. This will be a good fit for my boating needs.
