Delivered March 2008, I purchased in Sept. 2008 anticipating an application March 2009. Still in crate. I honestly don't know if Yamaha Factory warranty has been activated. I have $5400 invested and am considering an F70.

Also will consider selling 2005 Yamaha F60 EFI with approximately 450 hours, factory maintained, mounted on Bob's jack plate and garage kept. Never tubed, skiied or holeshots. Will work with delivery and can obviously crate. Email is current. Thanks. zot.

Any interest out there? Hours of 2005 may be more accurate at approximately 350. Wish I had an hour meter. Thanks. zotcha.

Great motors. Swift (~41-2 mph) on a classic 15 and adequate for a 16/17. Incredible fuel economy (I got ~11-12 mpg on a 30 mile high speed (30 mph) run down the Petaluma River and across SF Bay last year in my Sport 15 center console. I know, I know...impossible. But this was witnessed by CW member Warren/WT with whom I buddy boated. We fueled up together at the end of that run at Gas House Cove, and he whistled at the tiny amount of gas needed to top off my tank.)

Good luck with your sale(s), Zots.

Not impossible at all Tony, my 70 Suzuki on my Newtauk would fetch 10+mpg at a good cruise and weighs much more.

Yeah, I sure hope I get anywhere close to that with my Zuki DF70 on my Montauk, Nick. Still, I was amazed at the fuel economy during that run, especially because I was chasing Warren in his MT 170 and so was cruising five mph faster than I usually do.

Anyway, those F60s are great little motors, at least in my experience. I put around 250 hours on mine in 1.5 yrs without a single complaint, running it pretty hard compared with the way I do usually do, since I was mostly using my Sport 15 in relatively protected waters.

Yeah Tony. Really didn't need to have the aluminum tank maxed out to 19 gallons just to fill the void under the rear thwart. A bit overkill, hindsight.

The 2005 runs flawlessly on the 1982. If I can't sell either engine the 2008 F60 should be another perfect fit to the 1988 conversion. Thats provided I distribute the weight properly. Thinking like 12 -14 gallons inside the console, but I'm a bit paranoid about sticking the battery up there with the fuel cell. Only other oversight is a livewell under the leaning post. Very frustrating trying to design all of this right the first time...no going back.
If she turns out as I hope, the 1982 will most likely be sold.

Did manage to get 44.5 out of the 1982 two weeks ago. Slight wind and current at my back 18 gallons on board, and a full 52 quart cooler forward. I was being chased by rain and chop was roughly 3-5". It was FUN!

Do not put the battery with the tank unless ventilated VERY well. Even then I don't know. Ask Len.

I had the 18-gallon aluminum tank under the console, which I had raised exactly one foot right after I bought my 15 CC. My battery was under the seat, but I was still somewhat, uh, thoughtful about the fuel tank being tucked in there with all the electrical wiring and the possibility of a short and spark. Ventilation was very, very good, however, with no hatch cover at all on the port side opening in the console, and a huge wide-open space on the aft side of the console, especially large since the console was raised.

Classic 15 + Yamaha F60 = mucho fun! A perfect combination. Light weight (about 100 lbs less than my current Suzuki DF70), powerful, and for my uses out here, I'd probably find the that F60 would work great on a 16/17, with top speed in the range of 33-35 mph with just me aboard.

Our sailing club bought an '87 Montauk in 2008 that I cleaned up and repowered with a new 2007 F60. It has 175 hrs now and the motor has been flawless. A couple people gave me a hard time saying it wasn't enough power, but the package has proven itself in performance and fuel economy. The boat is mostly used by 2-3 people for race support, but at times it gets used as a tender, for towing, etc. So far it's been great and the fuel economy has been impressive.
Last summer during a large regatta I had to organize refueling for some of the support boats. There were several smaller Whalers. I was laughing at the fuel consumption between the club's Montauk and a loaned '89 Striper 17 with a '96 Evinrude 90 hp 2-stroke on it. The Evinrude would use around 12-16 gallons a day and the Yamaha F60 would use 6-8 gallons. Same hull, same use.

Zot, Is this the F60 you bought in New Port Richie when I was with you? That is a nice engine, I`m surprised you haven`t used it.

Yes Rich. Last March I paid a good bit of change for some mods. that I wasn't comfortable doing myself. I was very disappointed and lost all steam. Trying to get back in the shop. Exterior came out virtually factory. Interior then looked like crap, so I started sanding. You know the drill. All the way out to 2000 wet. Just needs compound, Finesse it III, and wax. Problem is just so many holes to fill and then gel coat. I'm burned out. Ready to rig and come at it next fall for final interior finish. May have bit off a little more than I can chew, and I know this all has to be planned and executed correctly the first time.

Looking more and more like I will be attending Homossasa. You gonna be there? Take care. zot.

Hey! I've got bet. 3/4 and 1" of snow on my deck, 3-4 miles from the Frantic Atlantic. Pretty cool. Never seen it here and didn't realize I kinda missed it. PITA was Freaked!

Update. Looking to trade 2008 F60 to a dealer for a 2010 F70. All offers considered. These EFI engines are sweet!

Recently had serviced 2005 F60 jack plated to my 1982 15 Sport in preparation for Homosassa get together. All fine. Diagnostics not only cleared pressures located at injectors to be within factory spec. (new aluminum fuel tank and mini Racor), compression within 3 pounds of 200 psi in all four cylinders, and only 222 actual hours on engine. Third season approaching on NGK plugs. Keeping this one...she's just breaking in! Let me know. zotcha.

Just had serial number of 2008 F60 new in crate run with local Yamaha dealer. Details of engine are manuafactured March 2008. Registered, activating factory three year warranty, in May of 2008, transferrable and good through May 25, 2011. At any time prior to 5-25-2011 owner may purchase 3 year extended warranty from Yamaha. Did not ask for price because my experience with 2005 F60 has been flawless. First 20 hour break-in period sets the stage, per engine owners manual. Listed with two local dealers who are not interested in a trade but very interested in selling a new F70. All offers considered. zot.
