Yep, I bent another one. Accident this time, though. Figured I'd ask here first before driving to Alameda to have one fabricated. |

Stand By Rob, I may know where one is...Shoot me an email on Monday or call my cell, 209-470-3978. Worst case, I get to dig through all the "Stuff" in my garage ;-) Andy |

Rob - I bent a few aluminum stern light poles on my Montauk. I finally took good advice and obtained a true OEM Perko pole from Sue @ Twin Cities. While the pole was ~$150. It is very thick walled and strong, not to mention heavy. |

Phil -- I don't think Rob has met a light pole he could not bend. |

Rob, I located the light pole two piece bases, so I am getting close in the pile of "Stuff". Check in with me Monday. PS What is the story with the bent/broken light poles? Must be a Marin Thing ;-) Andy |

Those damn things are a pain in the butt, especially when fishing. And I've got a double-dip fishing problem with my 'new' Montauk, because the VHF antenna is mounted in a location I certainly wouldn't have picked--on the starboard rail aft of the RPS, right in the way when you're fighting a fish: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/elaelap/CarvbikeTWAmulet068. jpg At least you can remove the stern light pole and only use it at night; nothing much you can do with an antenna in that location (except change its location...that's on my spring to-do list, and not nearly as simple as it sounds). Awesome Andy, I'll call you Monday. The light pole was an original stainless steel tubing type pole. It was tucked behind the railing bases, on top of the bimini poles. When I went to raise the bimini, it got wedged, and presto I need a new pole. The previous pole's short life and violent death can be found here: |

Perko could makes a nice light pole (I think 12 and 18 inches that folds down when not in use) you guys could attach to your rear engine cowling and fold the light foward while not in use (would be out of the way and no more bent poles). If you want to keep the factory pole attach a 2 prong trailer plug to the end of the light so it can be unpluged and removed when not in use... |

After I bent my pole I went down to a machine shop and got a piece of SS tubing and changed just the pole out. |

Hey Rob, Called and left Msg. Here is what I have as of today: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/Waha/201_2467.jpg Looks like the smaller bases and the larger light pole. I know you probable need the smaller light pole right? If I have the bases, I probably have the poles somewhere. I know I sold one, but was sure I hade two???? Anyway, either are yours for the taking and I will keep looking... Andy |
