I'm looking for someone who lives close to Norwalk, CT to look at a Whaler for me. I'm awaiting shipping quotes before I pursue this any further. Hopefully, I should have them by the end of next work week. Thanks for any and all help, Mel.

I live one town over and get to Norwalk all the time. Will be happy to have a look at the boat for you.

Ian,
Thank you for responding. When I get my quotes if the prices don't make me pass out I will get in touch with you.

Thanks,
Mel

I had a good experience with findahauler.com to move my whaler cheaply from Michigan to Connecticut. Did you try that site?

Thank you all very much. No, I haven't checked into findahauler.com. I received five quotes from freight haulers we use on a daily basis. The cheapest quote was $9,800 and the highest was $11,000. All are extremely reputable worldwide shippers. Unfortunately, this was the exact model and engine I was looking for but, I can't justify spending ten grand for shipping on a $16,500 boat. I'll just have to keep searching in the Pacific Northwest to keep the shipping within reason. Thanks again for all the help. Mel

Those numbers seem high to me. As you may know, what FINDAHAULER.COM does is match truckers who have empty loads and thus want to give you a deal. So in my case, a boat hauler from Georgia already had to haul a boat to Michigan. Then, he had an empty trailer over to New England where he was picking up a boat to bring down south. So it cost me about $1800 to truck the 22' whaler from Michigan to Connecticut in 2007.

The boat trucker's name was Jerry Aliengena gerali@comcast.net

A & A TRANSPORT, INC.
MONROE, GA
770 601 1389

He had a big pick up truck with a long trailer so it wasn't like you were paying for a big 18 wheeler rig.

He was also an OMC mechanic and worked on the motor and went out on the boat with me.

I'd call him and get a quote for a time that he is visiting New England for another customer etc.
