If someone was looking for a mint condition RPS, what would be a typical asking price? Just the wood, not the plastic frame. I'm talking about one with 2 pole holders and 2 stainless grab rails.

Just for the teak, pole holders and grab handles? Holy Mackeral! That is really pricey. |

No no no...Mike Kub that is a price for speciality's entire knock off RPS (legs, cushions, and seatback).Rich, Mike at Nautical Lumber sells a NEW OEM quality Teak RPS seat back without rod holders and handles for $550. Your used one with all the parts would typically go for $200 - $300 or so on eBay. That depends on the quality of the finish on the wood, the quality of the metal finish on the handles and the condition of the rod tubes and plastic ends. |

For a seatback with original handles and, more importantly, the original two SS rod holders, add $100. So Mike's would be worth $650, in effect. A good used one, freshly sanded to eliminate any old raised grain, with those items should be worth $450-$500. |

I have sold used complete RPS's for under $500 in good shape. They used to be expensive but I think you can buy a new one from Whaler now for like $800 when they used to be like $1500...double check with Whaler first. |

I have a nice used RPS from a late 80's Montauk. Wood, Z legs and seat cushion are all in good shape. Bought it 2 years ago for a project hull and went with a leaning post instead. I'd part with it for $500. Time for spring cleaning! Brian |

I've got a complete mint RPS that the prior owner of my boat assembled about 3-4 years ago with all new parts - new black legs from Whaler, new stainless steel pivot arms custom fabricated, new cushion and new seatback with rod holders. After having it a year I think I'd really rather have a leaning post and would be open to an equivalent trade or a sale. |
