You get a free boat and trailer to mount your engine to a resell. Could be a nice repower for say $2k out of pocket? Not mine, just a thought.

Careful with those free boat and trailer harvest the outboard packages....you could have that beauty sitting in your yard for a few years unless you want to pay to take it to the dump. Outboard harvesting from a Whaler is a much safer bet -- been there, done that.

If you have a viable outboard from you Whaler to swap to the donor boat, you can always donate the boat to a charitable organization and realize the tax deduction for the gift. I agree that some donor boats are a bad bet, but this one looks clean enough that it could probably be unloaded.

Be carefull of the Boogey Man as well.

Anything and I mean ANYTHING will sell for the right price so it will not have to sit in your yard for years...unless of course you are Peter.

Charitable donations can only be deducted for the price that the organization ultimately gets for it. If you want to help them out, do so but if you are making the donation for pure tax reasons you will probably be better selling the boat yourself.

That twin-axle galvanized trailer is worth substantial bucks, even if the boat itself isn't worth much. A good deal for sure for some creative person, if the motor is in decent condition.

Reading this thread and watching the cold rain pouring down has me in a screen-writing mood. Here's a brief treatment of a B-movie which will be coming soon to a theater near you:

Guy sees this ad and gets greedy idea. Buys boat and switches nice Honda with the ancient Merc two stroke on his banana Outrage. Insures new boat for twenty grand. Uses Outrage with new motor to tow new boat way offshore with wife at its helm. Chops a couple of holes in hull below waterline to scuttle new boat. As it sinks, wife gets foot caught in bight of tangled anchor rode and goes down with the boat. Guy doesn't realize the whole thing's been video'd by high-flying DEA surveillance aircraft. Guy is busted the day after he makes false insurance claim. Convicted of felony murder based on death of wife caused during commission of a felony (conspiracy, insurance fraud, destruction of a vessel). Sentenced to die, finds Jesus, saves warden's angelic 12-yr-old daughter from drooling rapist during prison riot. Pardoned. Opens gospel mission devoted to saving souls of folks so bored with two straight weeks of rain that they've got nothing better to do than write this drivel. All live happily ever after. Film ends with sun breaking through rain clouds.

Keep my day job?

Tuco

...NO! Retire and fish every day.

What's the 12 year old daughter doing in prison?

Oi vey...already the critics. The warden's angelic 12-year-old daughter was visiting her dad, of course. C'mon Alfred, no more silly questions 'til you shell out for a ticket.

Really? You mean I put that boat out front with a trailer worth $800 or so in running condition for $25 it won't sell? You really need help Peter or stop watching shows with a suicidal French dwarf as a cohost and you will gain back your sense of reality and a nicer outlook on life. The glass is not always half empty ya know. Even in FL that boat with a good running 90 should fetch close to $2k with that trailer.

Nick -- As it appears there is at least a 20 percent flipping profit to be had here I'm surprised you haven't snapped it up.

Peter-20% is not worth the risk on $4500. If I needed a 90hp I would be there looking with $$$. I know many a person who has done the same deal, usually works out for the good....unlike Herve Villechaize. I was just joking with ya but hey even if it sold for $1200 you just repowered with a 2006 Honda 90 with everything included for $3200...not shabby. That Manatee is/was a locally made boat and was around for a long time. It would sell down here for about $2k I bet, maybe a tad more if pretty clean and depends on what you hang on it from your boat. If you had no power I bet ot would fetch about a G which is still a nice repower option.
