This may be like looking for the "white whale". But I just picked up a clean squall with rudder and keel etc. Wanted to sail her with nieces and nephews.

Anyone want to part with one?

Thanks in advance.

I believe a Sunfish will work. You probably know somebody with one to find out.

Oddly enough, a sunfish won't work. This whaler does not have a freestanding mast. It does not insert in the front seat, but has a step plate (on the floor) in front of the middle seat with shroud attachment places on gunnels.

The work looks like OEM so I am stumped.

Has anyone ran across this?

What year 1982+? Does your have the retractable keel or a daggerboard? If Daggerboard then it is a newer model that came out a couple years after the original ended(79ish) and many things were changed to lower the cost to be more competitive. Personally I think they sail like crap and would not waste the money. Both of my squalls had the hole in the front area where you would sit. The mast slid into this hole and the whole setup was identical to a Sunfish..aka Latine(sp?) rigging I believe.

It has a dagger board but, it has a blue inside. There is no hole in the front whatsoever.

Thanks for the insight and info

That is not a squall. I bet that is the boat they made the squall after or an early prototype. Post some pics. All blue hulls had the retractable centerboard and the hole up front.

It may be a Chestnut Hill boat. I believe Whaler bought the 9' hull design from them. They were blue and may have not had the hole on the bow for the mast.

Thanks guys!

I just read the attached thread and it is exactly what I am dealing with. I knew the gang on CW would figure this out.

I hit up a friend (a sunfish nut) for a Marconi rig and he is going to work something out on the cheap, so it looks like it will be a sailing summer for the gang.

Thanks again everyone.

Anthony
