The Red Ritchie Explorer pictured in the above Photobucket ling, came off a 1977 17' Whaler.
The compass seemed to function perfectly, housing and base, although a bit faded had no cracks, fair/good condition factory sticker, a full sight glass without bubbles or fog.
Before removing, I aligned another boat outfitted with a GPS to compare headings, they were almost identical considering the visual interpretations.
When dismantled for cleaning, I decided it was worth being shipped back to a Ritchie Dealer for service.
The compass got boxed, then found it's way to be included with a larger box of Whaler parts, then forgotten.
It's agood find, and believe it has some value to a Whaler enthusiast.
