1987 Boston Whaler Revenge 20 WT with 1987 Johnson 200 V6 VRO For Sale without Trailer.

I bought this boat one month ago from the original owners in Ohio, who have logged 625 hours on the boat and engine throughout its freshwater life. I have added 20 hours or so, on Barnegat Bay since then. The boat is in the water and ready to demo for serious buyers. Whoever sees the boat will want it too; it is a great deal and shows well. I do have clean title and registration.

It runs strong. The engine is powerful, although loud! I have been toying with the idea of repowering it myself, but I may not due to cost, as well as the fact that another boat opportunity has opened up for me if I can sell this one. I am asking $13,000. If you are serious I will even tell you what I paid for the boat, and show you my costs getting it NJ ready.

Since I bought the boat, regarding the motor:

I have added a fuel water separator, had the engine gone through by one of the best mechanics on the Jersey Shore (McCarthy’s Marine, a Premier Boston Whaler Dealer), who adjusted cables, idle, and put in a new power pack. The engine runs great.

Regarding the hull:

I have washed and waxed; the gelcoat is in great condition.
I have cleaned the cushions in a most major way. They look like they are just the same old 1980’s classic Whaler Brown Plaid that have made them as sought after worldwide as they are.

Notable features:

- No trailer
- Old but working electronics
- Two batteries
- Full Stern Seat
- Flying top with complete weather curtain set.
- New anchor, chain, line.

Sal, You are killing me! That is your new record? Is it too small for your needs? Are you looking for an upgrade?
Just kidding, I have a 1987 Revenge 22 WT I might be willing to let go.

OK,OK, I understand, you bought the lighthouse and need the cash

Good luck with the sale, it is a beautiful boat.

Sam

It is a new record!

Thanks Sam.

If someone moves quick, I will move the price; there are two very neat options in front of me that are pretty darn enticing, as nice as this boat is.

Options Liz... Options.

I wanted a bigger boat for my house on the NJ Shore. So I sold the Montauk and bought the Revenge.

The Revenge has a Johnson 200 which runs great, but is loud and smokey on start up. It is not like the new engines we have been spoiled with. Accordingly I started looking at options:

1) Repower. Sell the Johnson and repower. Hence my engine for sale post.

2) Sell the Revenge although I just bought it, and buy a different boat with new power that is for sale near me, for a great price (although it still would cost about 10k more than the repower).

I listed the boat for sale, and the engine for sale, and decided to kind of abide by whatever the market tells me. The market tells me the Revenge is a hard boat to sell, unless you find a itchy-trigger kind of dope like me.

I will be repowering the Revenge and keeping her.

If Jim wants he can delete this for sale thread.

My engine is still for sale, although I do have three "interested" parties.

So I just wanted to show you a really neat boat, one I was considering purchasing as an alternative to my Revenge repower:

The guy who did this restoration is a Maryland gent, a real boat guru. He brought back a burnt/totaled 35 Duffy to life, and he just did the same with his father's Parker 2520. Look at the pictures of his work.

It was hard not buying his boat.

Sal- I know I am bit of a freak about retaining/restoring with the original boat in mind (make that boats, houses, motorcycles, cars, etc.). The stark white he painted that boat takes away from its Parker heritage. He did a nice job but should have stuck with the Parker color.

BTW, one of these days, you are going to have to decide- are you a Parker guy or a Whaler guy?

Lizard. I am both. I am a boat guy. I get the same criticism regarding my Martin and Gibson acoustics. Why would anyone have to be, or want to be, just one? I also love the boats made by Judge, Duffy, Steiger, And Albin.

Sal- Don't forget Ibanez. I had a Les Paul, WAY to heavy for someone of my frame. Saw the Dead and they played Ibanez, so that is what I have now.

Other than the Albin...starting to wonder about you and top notch quality.

Bigshot,

Parker makes a nice boat.

However, if Whaler would ever make a pilot house model, I would stop looking at them.

The pilot house model is also why I like Steiger's as well. They are a solid, no-frills fishing machine. I am not saying they are a Whaler, but they have their place.

Parker boats are very popular up here in New England. My next boat may very well be a Parker Pilothouse model. With the Pilot house forward and the engine(s) on a bracket, there is a ton of room in the cockpit. A very highly regarded boat for sure.

I looked at Parkers back in 1993 and yes it is a nicely built boat but more for a commercial fisherman. The cockpit is one step above splattering. My Mother gave my Father the thumbs down due to its lack of refinement. I did not say a word about them being poorly made in my post above. I said they lack Top Notch quality which companies like Whaler, Hydra-Sports, Formula, Bertram, Contender, etc use. This also raises the price bar much higher. These are the same reasons why a Miata is $20k less than a Boxster...not saying the Mazda is not a great car though...just not Top Notch.

I am just glad Sal came to his senses and plans to keep the boat for another month or two....;-) I also wish I was a collector of Martin and Gibson guitars. Sal would be a very good source for nice hardly used specimins....

Bigs, I agree with you on that one...the Parkers are pretty spartan, more of a no-frills utility type boat...

The Parker Pilot house style is based off the old classic lobster boats way back in time correct? Perhaps not so much the newer models but the old ones remind me of the old lobster boats. Low open back ends including the stern and large open cockpits with limited room in the cuddy. The overall lines tend to start low and move up steeply at the bow.

The boat has a real purpose as Nick mentioned such as commercial fishing crabbing etc. That would explain the lack of finishing inside the boat as well the popularity attraction as the lobster style is like a staple in the Eastern region for boating.

I have been aboard a few Parkers at various boat shows. It is definitely a pretty well thought out boat, but it lacks the fit and finish of earlier Whalers and some of their competitors. I agree, the lobster boat look, with ample deck space, makes it popular for fisherman, and those with nostalgia to New England old school boats.

Sal if you want a real cool NE style boat...look at Easterns. They are semi-displacement with a keel and a 21 will zip along real nice with a 90hp. Little more spartan than a Parker though. Guy near me has a 25 Parker pilot type with an I/O and a 40hp Yamaha kicker.
