Hi All,
Finally made the decision to sell the Outrage. Had it for 12 years. Good times with it in the L.I. Sound. She was never in the water more than a half day at a time since I owned her. No slip, no mooring; always trailered to the ramp. Unfortunately, I didn't give it the love she deserved, and I dont see the time being available anytime soon to do so and would like something newer.
Anyway, I'm just looking for your opinions/comments, etc about the boat before I start listing it locally and here. Feel free to make an offer, too.
Thanks for your time if you care to look.

Thanks.

Well it sure does look to be pretty much all original. It's one of those boats where just about everything could use a little help. A 28 year old engine is pushing it, for sure. But, it has good potential. I think in the current market, $5000. I have been known to be on the low end of estimates before, but I don't think I would go that high myself knowing what it would take to restore the boat. Would be a good boat for someone who is not hung up on perfection. Good luck on selling this great boat.

I would agree with Blackduck on all counts.

All in all, she looks very solid and could use a little TLC.

She'll make somebody a very good boat.

I think $5k would be a great buy for someone looking for one of the most highly acclaimed Whaler hulls to fix up and repower. How much of a hurry are you to sell?

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate your opinions.
Newt, I'm not in a big hurry to sell, but would like to use the $ from it to put into something I like soon. More sooner than later; before the summer is gone.

Start at $6500 or $5995 and see where it goes.

If the motor was updated you would likely command more then 5K imo but as a package the way it is probably what someone would pay for it. I see quite a bit of work involved to bring her back but you know some people really like the challenge and would find your boat very appealing as is. Priced right it will sell.

I bought basically the same boat and motor about five years ago. It was in Phoenix, and I paid $4500. I took off work the next day to get the paperwork done before he changed his mind. I would say mine was in about the same condition. The paint on the motor was worse, but there was less rust on the steering arm. The wood had a bit more shine, but your hull looks better. It looks like some of the control cables are new. That seems to mean that you have maintained your boat. I think you could improve the curb appeal with very little monetary input by using a good deck cleaner and some scrubbing. Rust stains on the hull could be removed with rubbing compound, and the teak rails could be refinished. All of that effort might raise the selling price a bit, and would probably cause it to sell faster. If you plan to sell this year it might be better not to dawdle. The buyer would like to think about using it this summer. Good luck with your sale.
