Jamie, i'm moving my boat shortly to have some fibreglass work done on my 25's whaler drive, and mounting a bow pulpit. I will be cutting the bow rail i have at one of the stanchions, and splicing in a new one that will have the correct contours to go around the new bow pulpit. So, i will have the front portion, and maybe a couple of feet on either side removed. How much are you looking for?

Hi Duf,

Thanks for the offer, but I am looking for the entire rail.

I currently have the original bow rail which was screwed together in pieces.

I am am looking to replace it with the welded one piece 1" rail used from 1988/89 on.

no problem, and if you change your mind, its a freebee with you picking up the tab for shipping! :)

My recommendation would be to stay with the jointed rail. I am convinced it is a higher quality piece of work.

I have a 1989 Outrage 25 which I bought new. The boat was manufactured in Edgewater and has the all welded 1" rail including the factory Bow Pulpit option. I also have a 1986 Outrage 18 bought new, with the jointed rail. The older design is superior in terms of corrosion resistance.

The welded rail on my 25 has been a constant source of surface corrosion, even in freshwater use, both on the rail surfaces and the base plates. Keeping rust off the hull at the base plate attachment points is constant work. Whoever fabricated these for Whaler in Edgewater used low grade stainless from what I can tell.

The jointed rails used on the older models had high grade SS. I have never had any corrosion and rust staining from the jointed design.

The one piece welded rail is a large assembly. It would be difficlut to ship I am sure. If you must have one, have it locally fabricated from a good grade of SS tubing, using the original as the design model.

Thanks Larry,

I appreciate that information.

I have spoken with CMI in Weymouth, MA, (less than an hour from me), and they are willing and able to construct a new one piece rail for me. Unfortunately it will be expensive to do this.

Still weighing all of my options.

Glad to help out. That is very convenient to have CMI so close by. I'm sure a 1" all welded rail by Fred would be a superior piece of work, with good quality stainless.

Larry,

I ended up taking my current 7/8" inch jointed rail to Fred @ CMI. He is going to convert it into a one pice welded rail. He's been great to work with. He also made some repairs to the railing on my super console.
