After 7 years I am going to sell the best boat I have ever had so I can move up to a 22 or 25 Outrage. I am the third owner of this boat, the first two were older gentlemen from Minnesota. This boat has never seen salt to my knowledge.

She is very sound mechanically. The Evinrude V4 is the original engine that came with the boat, and runs like a top. I still have the original Evinrude owners manual and paperwork that came from the Boston Whaler dealer when new. It pushes the Montauk over 45mph consistently, and has a 13x19 aluminum prop and a 17" aluminum prop that I just purchased last year for tubing and skiing. Several years ago I installed a Rite Hite jackplate, which allows the engine to run higher and more efficiently, saving fuel and adding speed.

The trailer was bought new in 2004, its a Shorelander bunk trailer and it looks like new, all the lights work and it has no damage anywhere. I also have all the paperwork from when this was purchased.

There are a couple of minor blemishes on the hull, none through the gelcoat. They are minor enough that I cannot take a picture of them and be able to see anything worth posting.
Also the RPS seat cushion has a crack in one corner and the cooler seat has a crack in the corner of that cushion as well. At one time an electric trolling motor was mounted in the bow, and you can see where the holes were filled.

I bought the VHF radio last season and it works great. I also bought a new battery for the boat last spring. The GPS is a hand held Garmin, its an older unit but it works good for me. The depth/fish finder is nothing fancy, but it always works and the backlight works as well.

The 4hp kicker is NOT included with the boat, my father in law wants that lol.
The gas tanks are 12 gallon Tempo tanks. If you do not want those tanks I have the original OMC 6 gallon tanks as well.

Call me at 989-860-0420 or bobdittmar@yahoo.com

Thanks
Bob

Duh, forgot the price %7500

Also included is a factory front swivel seat. The seat is in good condition, however the mechanism for tightening the seat was stripped out when I bought the boat

That is a great price for that boat - someone should jump on it quick!

Let me recommend that you step to a 25. They are aggressively priced right now, and are an exceptional hull.

Thanks for the input Dave. I like the 22 because they are more efficient with a single engine. If I get a 25 it will probably have a 300 similar to the Guardian that Mark has listed for sale in TX. I just dont feel like I want the expense, weight, and fuel cost of twins.

Does your 25 get over 2mpg with those 140's?

I believe it will when I get it set up correctly. Those are 25" shafts instead of the 20" setup that is called for, and the bottom paint was in terrible condition. On the Isle Royale trip, heavily loades, I averaged 1.6 to 1.8 MPG. The current refurb calls for some jack plates and 5" extensions, new props and a new/bottom.

Forget a big single on a 25. If you want a single, stay with the 22' hull and never mind my previous rec.

I don't know, this one seems to move pretty darn good with a single

Teak Oil,

There is no single powered outrage Outrage 22 combination that can compare to an Outrage 25 with a 300hp engine. The Outrage 25 is a far superior ride. It is a bigger and more capable boat. It is the best single engine Outrage combination available. As Bucka said, there is some very aggressive pricing out there on 25s. All things being equal, if given the choice between an Outrage 22 with a single and an Outage 25 with a single 300 , I think the choice would be a no brainer. The Outrage 25 is a step above the 22 .

I'm sure you've seen these links, but I've copied them just for reference.

I suspect this discussion belongs in performance, but I'll just add a couple things.

1) the video linked above is interesting. The person who posted it gave it a title that indicated they were in rough weather. The conditions didn't look that rough to me.

2) a honda civic will move a 25' Outrage on the trailer - and will probably reach highway speeds too....but it isn't a good choice for a tow vehicle. It is all my opinion, however, I believe that this hull really shines when you achieve enough stern lift to get it up and on top of the water. Twins will achieve this more efficiently/quickly than a big single.

3) it is not all about speed/going straight. If that were the case "bad guys" would choose a Crown Victoria to get away from cops chasing them. Most bad guys would choose something that has more HP, wider tires, better handling, etc.

4) Cost differential, despite the howls of objections, are not as great as indicated.

5) I don't know you well at all, but I do remember when I met you and boated with you that you seemed keen on performance. A single engine 25' Outrage is akin to a 70 HP on a Montauk. Fine for many...but perhaps not fine for you. Definitely not fine for me.

6) It is your money, your decision and would be your boat...you can do what you want (!) I just think you'd be happier with a 25 if it had twins, but perhaps I'm projecting my preferences onto you.

Best, and congratulations on the quick sale of your boat.

Dave

I'll give you your own [edited] advice from another thread:

quote:
While it may be possible to run a single on a [25 Outrage], you will be SEVERELY hurting the resale ability of this boat in the future.
Unless you plan to be buried in it, I would say this is a bad idea

The 28 Conquest is a LOT heavier than a 25 Outrage, like 3000# heavier, not even close to a good comparison.

You are probably right, since you have more experience with this hull than I do. But if an engine can push a hull to 55mph, I can't see how that would be poor performance in any conditions.

I will probably end up with a 22. I think twins are only a lot more expensive if you have to buy a motor. This is twice as likely to happen, and if one motor is ten years old than most are tempted to buy two. I think the fuel issue is a wash in reality

Oh, BTW, sale pending on the Montauk
