I'm looking for some feedback on my for sale add. Is it because I over powered? Is it too high a price? Would anyone be interested if I put a similar vintage 150 ( I have a line on a 1999 Johnson saltwater 150 HP) and a significant price drop? Please let me know, I will move on the 150 and install and rig it if someone is interested. This is a great whaler, the best of the 5 I have owned.

TC- That set-up would be a show-stopper for me, as MY insurance company will not insure over-powered boats. Apparently others have found companies that will insure over-powered boats. (Some insurers are now limiting the age of boats that they will take on in insurance as well.) You probably know that the max hp for a standard Outrage 18 is 150 hp. I have no idea (but Jeff or Tom Clark likely would) if there are different ratings for the Guardian, because it is a heavier hull.

For the purist, the paint on the hull is a likely detractor, for someone who wants a small battleship, it probably wouldn't matter.

It will be interesting to see other opinions.

It's grossly overpowered.

With military color trim, it's a small market.

There is no price listed (like the largest issue getting people to even be curious). I don't even bother to look at unpriced boats. You might want $5000, which would be low enough to just take a peek. You might want $20,000, which would be laughable. Give a hint.

There are no photos linked (with non standard cosmetics, there is no way to describe it withour graphical representations).

All of that added up = no interest.

Link some pics, post a price, and folks will at least look out of curiousity. One of them might bite. At the very least you will initiate some correspondance. Bear in mind too that this is a pretty small venue. Want to sell it in a week? List it on Ebay starting at $4000 with no reserve and you will learn exactly what it is worth in 7 days.

Personally... a 250 on a 18 Outrage is a show stopper for me and likely for just about anyone else. It's just not sensible. A 150? Sure.

Sorry... just re-read the ad... you do have a price, but it's buried deeply in the text. I didn't see it either the first or second reading. Put the price right up on the top and make it obvious.

Best,

Dave

I can email pictures, I'll add that to the text. So, any feedback on a 1999 nice Johnson 150 HP saltwater series rigged and ready on the boat in the $6000 range? The police had a 155 HP Evinrude commercial motor it had a serious rod knock but still ran.

The 150 would add value to the package, meaning that it will likely actually sell... with the 250? It's going to sit.

Figure out how to have photos hosted on Photobucket and upload them. Casual lookers don't want photos emailed... and tha makes it hard for them to share pics with a friend that might be interested. People want a simple URL to click on to go see a photo gallery. Photobucket works well.

That Guardian with the '99 Johnson 150 on it would go for a LOT more money in CA, of course photos will tell part of the story.

Even though you can assume it is located in Va. if you look at your profile, I always think it is a good idea to advise where the boat is located as well as the price in the headline.

With a 27 year old hull that has been repainted, and was used until surplussed by D.C. it is obviously a cash only deal. I doubt any lender would touch it. Maybe not a problem on CW, but the secondary market sees a lot of financing.

Very small market for it with the 250.

End of season in the mid-Atlantic, kids are headed back to school in a 2-3 weeks.

Got to have a viable link to decent photos. Small fuzzy phone photos are going to make buyers think the worst.

I always give the year of manufacture for the boat, the motor, and the trailer, as well as state that I have all titles free and clear and in my name.

I would try and sell the 250 first. It is on the boat, and can be demonstrated in the water. A big plus for me as a buyer. Then try and sell the boat with the 150.

It is a little confusing as to the package price with the 150. Are you trying to sell the b/m/t for 6K or just the engine?

I'm always looking for my next boat. I also appreciate that you have provided a lot of honest info about the boat in your post, but I think it may be too much info. Half the info, and a good link to photos would get my attention.

Since I am always looking for my next boat, I realize this boat is a hard boat to resell based on the description. A good look at it might make me think completely different about it.

Best of luck on the sale.

Yes, 6,000 B/M/T. East of Richmond. Thank you for the pointers, I will work on those suggestions.
