I just saw a 1993 15'dauntless with a 60 mariner that needs a ton of work. Listed at $4000 with trailer.
Work requires:
new paint job everywhere as the previous owner has used a brush to paint it.
interior has 3 6" diameter holes in it to drain the water in the hull, 2 in the front, 1 in the back. Also a strip has been removed in the back 3" by 10" with the foam removed. also looks like some patch work on the starboard interior stern.
Engine has been run in 2 years, and I am not fond of mariners anyway.
I have photos but don't know how to post.
Is this something that can be fixed?

The answer is no. From the description, even if the seller was asking $500for you would be smarter to walk away. Even in good condition these are not sought after hulls and they do not bring the same money as a classic 15.

I agree with Jeff to walk away from this deal.
I would add - walk away fast!
Original gel-coat is always best - no paint (except bottom paint is OK).
In our area, a good 13 or 15 Dauntless is very desirable and is worth more than a classic 13 or 15 hull.

Run as fast as you can - that has extensive modifications and not in a good way -

With that being said morbid curiosity has me wanting to see pictures of the holes and their purpose. What some people do to boats amazes me.

Thanks for the info.
If anyone would like to see the photos send me an email and I will forward them to you. Not sure how to add photos on the forum
