While the OEM Whaler boxes might be exactly what you are looking for they can often carry a heafty price tag and often due to their age the plastic may be at the end of it's life. Your best option would be a new box from a company called Powerhouse. They make group 24 and group 27 battery boxed in Tan "off-white" You can get them from Fore and Aft Marine for under $10. |

Have you used Powerhouse products before? Are they as strong/well built as the OEM Tan boxes were? Thanks, Russ |

I have been using a Powerhouse box for about 3 years - it's a good color match for the Desert Tan, seems to be durable, and the price is right. Sure looks better than the generic black box the PO had on there. Tim |

That website has the #27 Powerhouse box on sale/closeout for $5.99. I just ordered a couple. UPS seemed a little high, but order total was in reason. |

This just dawned on me. Being that I am just getting ready to paint the interior of my 15 footer Desert Tan with AwlGrip (color matched), I think I'll just pick up a couple of new, decent quality black boxes, and prime and paint them with this same AwlGrip paint. Is that acceptable, and they will really blend in. rich |

Spitti - since you have a full transom Whaler, where the batteries are under the back deck and out of sight, I'm wondering why the battery box matters. I have a full transom Whaler also, and when I bought it new it came with the twin Whaler tan boxes. But as I bought other boats, and needed the tan boxes where they were exposed to view, as in a Montauk, I took the tan boxes out of the 25 and replaced them with the standard black Attwood boxes. It makes no difference at all, as they are not seen. The only thing you do want is the Whaler Kev-Lock battery box strap, a must. Try Sue at Twin Cities Marine for one of those. I put together a large group order when I needed two, and she took about 100 of them, and may still have some left. they also are hard to find. I have been trying to locate a used tan box with no luck at all. A friend has a brand new one, with strap, but he won't part with it (at least not yet!). |

LHG- what your saying makes perfect sence , but I'm such a stickler I need to keep it original even if not seen , plus I already located one box in nice shape and have the straps from Sue / your group buy - thank you ! They were very nice .nothing like looking at those original boxes and straps. I need one more ..anyone ? |

I just received the boxes I ordered. It is a good thing for other customers that they are on closeout. Junk!!! One arrived "pre-broken" with the top broken and unusable. The ones at Wally and other places are technically superior, just black. |

I have one but it is in bad shape, very sun baked and with a deformed lid where it got strapped down over a projecting terminal clamp. I'm on the fence as to pitch it or sell it. If somebody wants to pay postage... |

Based on the previous, earlier comments, I ordered and have received FIVE of each size. Mine arrived in perfect shape and I am looking forward to installing them in my Temptation (2), 15 Super Sport, and RibSide. (We are also looking at a Montauk that can house the fifth.)
