Looking to see if any one is running a 50 hp 4 St Yamaha on a
15 looking at one but worry it may not have the power that is
needed for that hull.

Thanks.

I run a 1996 50hp fourstroke Merc (Yamaha Powerhead) on my 1984 15ft. center console and it works just fine. I can get 39 mph when trimmed and running under the right conditions.
How do you plan to use your hull?

I recently repowered my 15' with a new Yamaha 60 four stroke, it's plenty of power for skiers but you might lose a bit with the 50 HP. Go for the Yamaha F70, same weight as the 60

I have an '87 15' super sport with a 2005 Yamaha 50 4 stroke and its definitely not under powered. I went with that motor because I found a new non-current motor at a good price. There's no doubt I would pop for the F70 if money hasn't an option but a 50 is just fine. I pull skiers, tubes, etc. without any issues, even when I have 2 adults and 2 kids in the boat pulling a tube/skier.
