What is the best way to tighten my bow rail,it is very loose where the rails meet the boat. Will I have refill the existing holes with epoxy, and start over? additionally, do you have any recommendations on where I can re-chrome some of the fittings for the rail. Thanks, Pat

Simon, I believe that there are 6 bow rail fittings to the hull (3 on each side). The forward two are affixed directly to deck with 90 degree flange bases. If these are loose check and see if they are not though-bolted.. you will have to crawl into the lazerette or maybe get access though the anchor locker! If not through-bolted, you will have to fill and refasted as you described or if you can get access through-bolt! The deck is a simple "drop over" and is one layer of fiberglas - no foam. The other 4 stanchions are not fastened to deck, but penetrate the deck and fasten to hull via those great little Whaler "posts". You will have to get into the lazerette and check these out... sheet metal screws are used and if stripped you will have to fill.. etc.. Good luck and Happy Whalin'.... Clark.. Spruce Creek Navy |
