posted 04-14-2000 10:12 AM ET (US) I am completely restoring the pilot seat and console of the 1968 Sakonnet that my Dad bought us when I was a kid. I have totally disassembled them and I can salvage most of the solid mahogany but the 1/2" plywood is rotten. We have a supplier in Jax who carries 1/4" and 3/4" mahogany plywood, but won't order me two 4'x8' sheets of 1/2". I really don't want to use another wood. Does anybody know where I can get two sheets of 1/2" mahogany plywood. Thank you.

Don't be afraid to use Okoume (African Mahogany). I used it to build a new console for my Nauset and it looks original. Hope this helps. Bill

Bill was right. The web site contained a great list of suppliers to get the wood you need. Shipping costs can be a little steep, but hey, you gotta have the right materials!
